Picasso Becomes You
Art comes to life in this performance fundraiser for the Studio! The event will be at the McMorran Place Theatre April 20 and 21, 2012.
You’ve never seen art like this: Performance Art. Art History. Contemporary Art. Traditional Art. Art Arguing. Yes, arguing.
The real magic of the production occurs when the works of art that have been talked about – traditional and contemporary -- come to life and begin a conversation of their own about what is – or is not – art and how subjective opinions are. We begin to understand, from the arts’ perspective, that other people’s opinions do not define who you are.
This rich performance art piece not only brings art to life for students and community, but also brings history to life and stresses the importance of the individual’s value to themselves and to their community.
“Picasso Becomes You” is engaging over 100 artists in the project, who are creating and replicating scores of works of art – including a ¾ replica of the famous “Guernica” and Les Demoiselles d'Avignon -- as well as creating a new community war mural. See replicas of the works of Calder, Dali, Indiana, Butcher, Osprey Lake, Baker and more – and, of course, Picasso.
You HAVE to see it, hear it, experience it to believe it!
