Secrets of Success - Selling Art Locally
Selling art in Port Huron can be pretty tough, if not downright impossible sometimes. Locally, I feel I’ve been pretty successful in my art endeavors. Besides some amazing luck, and a great support system of friends and family always encouraging me, I have a couple things your average artist doesn’t have - sales training by a Fortune 500 company ranked 76th and an employment background in the advertising and marketing field.
That is the secret of my success - I can market, advertise and sell me and my art effectively. I’m not going to knock my abilities as an artist, but there are many, many, artists better than me out there, that don’t get the exposure they should.
A college professor, of mine, once told me that the difference between an amazing artist, who is just that and nothing more and a good artist that works hard, takes risks and goes for it, is success, because no one is going to come knocking - begging to buy art work. That’s always stuck with me. (Thank you, David Korff)
I want Port Huron to be a buzzing creative community. I want our city to be synonymous with art. I want to ensure the gift we have of Studio 1219, not only continues to exist, but prospers. I want to extend what I think are the secrets to my success and help other artists receive the same opportunities I’ve had. I want to help other artists…
