The Art of Being a Woman 2012
October is Breast Cancer Prevention and Awareness Month. Studio 1219 supports this cause with our Women's Show and Bra Art Contest during the month of October.

- Art by, for, and about women is featured in the Van Gogh Solo gallery at Studio 1219 during the month of October.
- Pampered for a Cause Pink hair and feathers, pretty purses and bags, chair massages, jewelry, chocolates, candles, and a pampering chef are just a sampling of what will be on hand at the inaugural “Pampered for a Cause” party at Studio 1219. Admission is free, with portions of the sales from the party being donated to the Studio and the fund.
- An Evening of Poetry and Music Join us at the Studio for poetry readings and music by local creatives. Musical guests include Ally Evenson, Erin Wilkins-Eppley and Ande Gaines-McCarthy, and Still Running. Poetry by David Blaine, Lyn Chabot, Lesley L. Lambright, LeeAnne McGinnis, Suzanne M. O’Brien, Alinda Wasner, and Marlene Weir. The event is free, doors open at 7pm. Refreshments served.

- LUNAFEST®, the national touring women's short film festival is hosted by the Studio and is made possible, in part, by the generous support of E&A Credit Union and Woman’s Life, and Lesley L. Lambright. This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, sexuality, cultural diversity, and breaking barriers. The 2012 LUNAFEST will be Thursday at 7pm. Tickets will be available at the door for $10, refreshments included.
Click here for film details. - Bra Art Contest: Everyone is welcome to decorate a bra! Decorated bras will be on display Oct 2 - 26 in the upstairs galleries. Click here for the Bra Contest entry form. Visitors can purchase $1 tickets to vote on their favorite bra. All bras are auctioned off and the creators of the top 3 voted bras will receive prizes at the Bra Finale Show. Half of the proceeds will benefit the Studio 1219 Breast Cancer Fund held at the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. This fund benefits Port Huron Hospital Women’s Wellness Place and St Joseph-Mercy Port Huron Hospital. Since beginning the fund in 2007, more than $13,200 has been contributed to the community to help the uninsured and under-insured women of St. Clair County. To date, 34 local women have been assisted with expenses for mammograms and other procedures. Learn more about this Fund and how you can donate. The other half of the proceeds benefit Studio 1219 general operations.

Building Use
Studio 1219 is a multi-purpose building open to the public. Space can be rented out for birthday parties, receptions, meetings, bridal showers, baby showers, and much more. Prices vary.
